December Photo Project- catch up! December 11-14, 2008

Well I've been taking pictures every day and even loading them into photobucket, but I just haven't had time to sit and write blogs for the last few days.

So I'm compiling my December 11-14th pictures into a larger post.

December 11-12, 2008

We had some rain over the weekend and I ventured out to my winter garden to see how it fared after the torrential downpours. The lettuce was a little beaten down, but it has since sprung back up and looks about ready to pick!

A neat effect on one of my broccoli plants - anxiously waiting for it to flower!

My eternal green onion bucket - which I'm sad to say no longer looks this good as Maddie picked most of the longer stalks today while she was making soup! She also tormented my rosemary...

Snowflakes as the sun was setting - the only kind of snowflakes we'll get here in Florida!

December 14, 2008

We went up to Crestview after church to have dinner with my grandmother. We took a few family pictures of the four of us...
Maddie sang at church in the morning - so did I - and we all dressed up in our Christmas best.

December 9, 2008 DPP

I really didn't take any interesting pictures for the 9th, but I snapped this self portrait of me and Wyatt LATE last night after I came back from speaking at a local Bradley Method Childbirth class. He had fallen asleep while I was gone and woke up the minute I walked in the door and was quite wired after that for a good hour...

Today was a horribly rainy and soggy day. It was dark when we got up at 8 a.m. and remained dark and nasty for the rest of the day. There was thunder and lightning and crazy mommies going stir crazy with equally crazy children.

I worked in Wyatt's room today - I'll post another blog about that in a few minutes probably.

Anyways - while I worked - the kids destroyed the rest of the house and Wyatt ran around dressed as a bug/spider/monster and carried around his drum - driving me even more crazy. He was trying to compete with the torrential downpour!

And he growled at you when you looked at him - because he is after all a boy - and delights in playing the monster!

Well I never did take pictures on the 7th and took several on the 8th, but didn't post them - so better late than never, huh?

I was determined to make a nice dinner Monday night and made fresh bread - only to realize that I had NO butter! So I improvised and used heavy cream and made my own fresh butter! It's easy to do - you pour some cream in a jar - I add a little salt for taste and shake until it gets so unbelievably thick that you don't think it will do anything - and then suddenly it sloshes and forms into a hard ball and the buttermilk is drawn out of the butter. It's pretty cool!

December 6, 2008 DPP

I threw some pictures up earlier - but they were from last night and I finally found a camera cable- so I'm rearranging.

Today was Wyatt's first time decorating Christmas Cookies! My dad is the resident cookie maker in our house and he got up this morning and made cookies for the kids to decorate. Wyatt really got into the decorating, but refused to eat them. Maddie more than made up for his lack of cookie eating, though!

I think one of my dad's favorite Christmas movies is Chevy Chase's Christmas Vacation - He tries every year to outdo the Griswalds. This year he had a lot of front yard to work with and Wyatt and Maddie are ecstatic. I love that he gets such a kick out of decorating the house and yard for them!

I took a picture of this arrangement that Maddie made in the fire place den - I'm not sure what it is, but it was picture worthy.

December 5, 2008 DPP

A very tired little girl and her tired kitty. We were laying in bed watching Harry Potter tonight (not the scary parts - we hid under the blanket for those!) - and I turned to look at her and she'd fallen asleep. Right after that Pumpkin curled up next to her and I had to take a picture with the laptop camera. It was just too precious!

I have many more pictures from today, but the battery is dead in my camera and the charger is missing.

December 3-4, 2008 DPP

ok - I got a little sidetracked yesterday - by friends, family and a very nasty migraine that very nearly required a trip to the emergency room (and since I have no coverage when it comes to headaches - you know it must have been bad!)

So here are pictures from yesterday and today :) in no particular order...

Photobucket
Maddie took this one of me watering the tree - it was really dark and turned out kind of funky when I fixed it.

Maddie, her new glasses from Aunt Nat Nat and our decorated tree. Check out my paper chain!

One of my many advent calendars. The kids put all of the pieces up and I decided that they could just play and rearrange it and that would be ok.

Photobucket
This is a really neat advent calendar that Maddie's preschool sent home. Every day you add angel and there is a vocabulary word that pertains to Christmas and a corresponding line from a Christmas carol.

The centerpiece on my table - fresh rosemary from the yard

Another Maddie picture - the kids have their own rendition of the nativity

The first decorations on the tree - maddie's hairbands.

I thought this was a funny picture - Mike laying on the ground fixing the tree

December 1, 2008 DPP

Well here they are - my first December Photo Project (DPP) pictures. I don't think I can limit myself to just one picture, so I've chosen 4 or 5 for today...

Photobucket
I was hanging up jackets in the closet and Wyatt saw his life jacket hanging up. He insisted on wearing it and "swimming" on the floor in the kitchen.

Photobucket
It took some teeth pulling, but Mike brought me out a few of my Christmas totes so I could start decorating some today!
Photobucket
On the first day of December - my best friend gave to me - A sugar plum fairy advent Christmas tree! Actually Becca made this for me last year. I've been counting down the days until I could put it up and start using it again! Thank you Becca- you are the most wonderful friend a girl could ever hope for!

This is my Christmas wreath. It was one of the first things I made as a newlywed  - once we had our own house. I love the colors and the bow and seeing it hanging on my front door!
